My poor books all stowed away in a crowded shelf-cabinet. I really need more space for books! There are also books behind the visible books, plus some I have in another cabinet.
For some time now, I have only read books in english. I do this, since the original language for a book is what I prefer to read it in. I do enjoy some danish books when I find some interesting ones, though again I do not read translated books because of the following reasons:
1. The spelling quality is mostly rather poor, sadly. (e.g. when Eragon’s name is changed to “Egon” several times in the book you get kind of annoyed!)
2. It is much much cheaper to buy books that is in english.
3. I gain much more from the experience from reading the book. My vocabulary increases, my spelling in english improves etc. etc.
4. There are a lot more books of the genre I prefer written in english.
As a greaaaaat fan of The Southern Vampire Series I’d like to recommend the series by Charlaine Harris. (Some may know it better as the series behind True Blood, (which is a great show btw!))

Another series I absolutely adore is Vampire Academy. Strong characters that you can really grow to love. The books are written by Richelle Mead.

The two series above are situated in a sort of vampire world while this series has got something else. I really did find it interesting and with a cute maincharacter, Chloe Saunders. As opposed to the two other series this one is a little more innocent and Chloe is only 15 years old anyhow I really like it. The series is called Darkest Powers and is written by Kelley Armstrong.

The Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance grew on me. It took me some time to get completely caught up in the first book but after it happened I was really hooked on it. It reminds me a bit about The Southern Vampire series but the universe and writing style is different. In the series we follow Cassie Palmer is a human clairvoyant. (at the start of the series she is about 23 years old) She has visions, mostly uncomfortable ones, and she is able to see ghosts. All her life she has lived at a Vampire Court, where the boss vamp, Tony, has used her visions to make big money.

I can further recommend L.J. Smith, the woman behind The Vampire Diaries and another great series called Nightworld. She has written a lot of books but so far I have only read those two mentioned series. Some months ago I started reading The House of Night series, which I am currently still enjoying i.e. book 4-5 it is now. (I do not have a lot time for reading atm)

3. The Southern Vampire Series – Dead Reckoning
4. The Cassandra Palmer Series – Hunt the Moon

I must say how much I agree with you on your I-prefer-the-original-language-list. The books are cheaper so you can buy more of them, you’re sure you won’t find a bad translation and so on.

Ja, det er fantastisk at se at man ikke er ene og alene med sin passion til bøger!
Jeg er bare glad for at have fundet en masse bøger igennem boganmeldelser rundt på forskellige blogs. – Jeg finder nogen bøger jeg ellers nok aldrig ville opdage. :)
Jeg elsker også at læse bøger på engelsk! :)

Åh ja!
Jeg er så ikke igang med så mange serie. Er lige begyndt på The Night World. Venter på 2′eren udkommer på dansk her den 1.
Og så læser jeg True Blood bøgerne. Både dansk og engelsk. Er igang med den danske, mangler dog den nyeste.
Og så er jeg også igang med Hush, Hush serien, Og Fallen hvis du kender den. Og har Vampire Diaries liggende også, har de 4 første, men er ikke begyndt endnu, prøvede men kunne ikke blive fanget, fordi der er så stor forskel på tv serien og bogen, så skulle lige have tv serien ud af hovedet først. :P
Jamen hov, det var da nogle serier alligevel..
Og så er der et ton andre jeg gerne vil igang med.. Ihh det er så irriterende, og så ja det med pengende. Jeg skal også ud og rejse i ferien, til Irland, er glad for at jeg har lagt de penge jeg skal bruge til siden, så jeg kan købe bøger alligevel for resten ;)
